About United to Prevent Suicide

United to Prevent Suicide is a social movement of people from all across Scotland.

Every one of us are united in a shared belief that we all have a role to play in preventing suicide.

And so, our movement is for anyone who is passionate about preventing suicide and building the most supportive country in the world.

Joining the movement

Everyone who joins the movement receives a suicide prevention pack loaded with information on how to talk about suicide, how to become a better listener and how to dispel the myths about suicide.

You can sign up to join the movement at the United to Prevent Suicide website.

If you're any sort of organisation (company, charity, public sector body etc.) you can also join United to Prevent Suicide. Use this link to sign up today. On the same page you can find a range of helpful resources to support organisations, too.

Who leads this work?

United to Prevent Suicide is led by Suicide Prevention Scotland, the community of people and organisations working together to deliver the Scottish Government and COSLA’s joint strategy, Creating Hope Together.

The social movement work is jointly managed by Public Health Scotland and SAMH.

Watch our original launch film

United to Prevent Suicide began in August 2020.

At the time the TV advert was broadcast featuring the voices of people who have their own personal experiences of suicide.
