What if asking about suicide could save a life?

If you're worried about someone, ask them, 'are you thinking about suicide?'

Suicide is a topic that makes many of us nervous; it can feel like the hardest thing to ask someone about

What if I say the wrong thing?
What if they say yes?
What if it gives them the idea?

But lots of people don’t realise...

If you’re worried about someone, asking them ‘are you thinking about suicide’ is the best way to prevent it.

Watch our new TV ad featuring people with experience of suicide.

Find support near you

No matter what you’re thinking or feeling, or the situation you’re in, there’s always a way forward.

There are different types of support and services across Scotland.

Our services directory will connect you to help near you.

Enabling conversations

In partnership with V&A Dundee, we've co-produced a new toolkit for young people experiencing suicidal thoughts.

The aim is to give them support to keep themselves safe - and reach out to a safe person (sometimes called a trusted adult).

You can find both resources here.
