Introducing our Academic Advisory Group
Data and evidence are a crucial part of the way we develop and deliver policies and programmes to prevent suicide.
Introduction
Our Academic Advisory Group supports the implementation and evaluation of Creating Hope Together, Scotland’s national suicide prevention plan.
It does so through the provision of research and policy related expertise and outputs to a range of key stakeholders including:
Scottish Government
Suicide Prevention Scotland, including our Lived & Living Experience Panel and Youth Advisory Group
National Suicide Prevention Advisory Group
What does the Academic Advisory Group do?
The Academic Advisory Group has three key areas of responsibility. These are:

Performing a horizon-scanning function. This allows key stakeholders to be informed about recent and updated research findings on topics of significance and relevance
When providing evidence-informed advice to key stakeholders, it takes account of the current strategies including:
Scottish Government Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy (June 2023)
